Christmas Lists...
We don't really believe in Christmas lists. My husband cringes every time the kids say "I need" because they don't "need" anything! They want, we want for them, they think they want, and the topper of the season is the commercials that tell them they want..."stuff!" They have SO much in comparision and don't "need" anything...trust me!
SO, my dilema...I DO want and I am trying to convince myself...NEED 2 things! Nothing major, nothing bank breaking, nothing that seems "too" terribly selfish, I think! I don't "want" to use the word "want" or "need" in front of the kids because I have preached along with their father that there are NO "needs" and "wants" that haven't already been met in their lives.
SO, should I buy myself a little gift and stuff it under the tree and convince them that "Santa" brought it or it fell down the chimney in his travels. This gift could "mysteriously" fall down the chimney...I WANT/NEED a new camera! See, it's not that I want it for total selfish reasons, I want/need them to have memories of their lives through a lens, is that a crime?
THEN..the next gift is a TOTAL selfish gift BUT also memory making. I REALLY REALLY REALLY want a professional picture of my three kids together. It's been YEARS since the professional picture was taken and for those of you who have seen our HORRIBLE (yes, I DO REALIZE IT'S HORRIBLE) Christmas picture should realize that I REALLY REALLY REALLY want/need this!?!?! Someone PLEASE take my side on this one!?!?!I also have to believe that the years of therapy that it's going to take to reverse the damage I have caused threatening them to smile for a picture is going to be somewhere in the FORTUNES of dollars!
SO, as I write this I realize that I have SO much to do before Christmas actually gets here and I haven't even begun to delve into what my kids are really getting from the bearded red suit wearing fat man!

I have the perfect solution...
years ago my wife gave me a beautifully wrapped and about three foot tall gift...I could hardly wait to open it to find a hand carved wooden angel figure with wings and a halo...a gorgeous thing...
The whole family and I were stunned when she said:
"I actually bought it for myself from you!!!
Thanks Pete"...
p.s. Every Christmas I buy her a nice gift like golf balls, books and stuff I like...the family and she expect it and it's always fun...
Give him a camera!!! Should work like a charm...

Gina Vistaunet had this to say:
A camera is a need. Like food. I'm sure your children will understand. It's not like a purse or shoes. The picture is a want. Use the camera and take a picture of your three kids with it. Then you get both!

I agree...a camera is a "need".
I think you could have someone you know take a professional picture...Courtney Gause, Alanna Pearson, they both take amazing pictures and wouldn't charge very much, I'm sure!
